FOUNDATION OF WAKO EUROPE

On the initiative and with support of World Association of Kickboxing Organizations WAKO, in accordance with Article 44. and 45. of the WAKO Statutes, the WAKO Europe was established on December 1st, 2013 in Antalya, Turkey, during the WAKO Europe General Assembly at WAKO Senior World Championships for Point Fighting, Light Contact, Kick Light, Full Contact and Musical Forms (from 29th November to 8th December 2013).

The first President of the WAKO EUROPE, the new WAKO Continental Division, was Mr. Borislav Pelevic, President of Serbian Kickboxing Federation, who was elected by unanimous decision of the delegates of the Assembly.

WAKO EUROPE is a non-profit, non-political sport organization composed of the members who are National Kickboxing Federations from European countries, recognized by the government sport authorities or National Olympic Committee, and at the same time the members of WAKO.

WAKO EUROPE as the Continental Federation is in charge of the organization or supervision of Continental Championships for seniors and juniors and other continental kickboxing competitions and tournament, in compliance with WAKO Rules and WAKO Calendar on its continent.

WAKO EUROPE was constituted according to art. 60 et seq. of the Swiss Civil Code, on the duration for an unlimited period of time, and the first legal seat was in Switzerland.

Legal seat of WAKO Europe has been moved to Budapest, Hungary in December 2022.
