Regional kickboxing organizations are constituted on the initiative of WAKO and gather countries from particular geographic region, which are the members of WAKO.
Regional organizations are members of WAKO under signed MOU, constituted with the main objective to strengthen relations between member countries and popularize sport of kickboxing in the region, but without voting right at the General Assembly.
They organize regional tournaments and championships according to the Art. 2.2.6. of the WAKO Statute fully under the WAKO rules applying the same criteria as for continental cups.
Participation on regional championships is allowed only for national teams of the country which is the member of regional kickboxing organization.
WAKO BALKAN
Regional Balkan kickboxing federation was founded under the name WAKO Balkan Federation in 2001. The WAKO President Ennio Falsoni supported the creation of the Balkan Kickboxing Federation.
Member countries: Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Turkiye, Slovenia, Croatia, Moldova, Albania, Romania, Greece and Kosovo.
The first President was Bojan Kolev, Bulgaria.
Since the very beginning, Balkan Kickboxing Federation hold Championships every year.
In 2015, Bojan Kolev resigned from all positions in kickboxing and Aleksandra Nedelkovska (North Macedonia) was elected as the new President.
The federation changed the name to WAKO Kickboxing Union of the Balkan.
At the General assembly in 2016, Aleksandra Nedelkovska (MKD) was no longer elected as the President and in 2017 Vladimir Sitar was appointed as the acting president, all in agreement with the WAKO Europe President Borislav Pelevic (SRB) at that time.
At the 2019 General assembly held in Sarajevo (BiH), Petar Petrović (SRB) was elected to the position of WAKO Balkan director.
In 2022, during the General Assembly in Kraljevo (SRB), Dejan Mitrovski (MKD) has been elected as the new President.
