Following a recent communication from the IOC, the sport of Kickboxing and its member federations, coaches and athletes, reaffirm and continue to uphold the values which are closely aligned with the principles of the Olympic Movement: friendship, excellence, and respect.
They in reality highlight the ability of sport to uniquely serve as a universal language, fostering unity among individuals from distinct cultures, traditions, and viewpoints. Creating harmony, tolerance and understanding.
Kickboxing stands as a unique platform that promotes and fosters mutual respect enhancing cooperation across diverse communities. Preserving our sportโs autonomy is vital, ensuring it remains free from undue influence and is celebrated for its ability to unite people through fair competition. By safeguarding kickboxingโs independence, we encourage athletes and fans alike to interact in an environment built on openness and understanding, reinforcing sportโs essential role in bridging cultural and social gaps.
In five months, we will host our largest event of the year: the Children, Cadets, Juniors and Inclusive World Championships in Jesolo Lido (VE), Italy, a testament to the positive and continued focus on our future, the youth of our sport. Through their interactions with one another, young athletes have the opportunity to develop mutual respect, understanding, and empathy. In turn, this fosters greater tolerance and appreciation of differences in a positive wayโvalues that are fundamental to a healthy society and culture.
WAKO and WAKO Europe will continue to work in harmony with its member federations, to promote the fundamental benefits of Kickboxing across the globe.
