The European Olympic Committees (EOC) Executive Committee has approved the sports programme for the 4th European Games Istanbul 2027 and Kickboxing will be one of the 26 sports and disciplines featured at the 4th European Games.
“It is a real pleasure to announce that Kickboxing will be fully included in the program at the next European Games in Istanbul, Türkiye, on 16-27 June 2027.
It is with pride we managed to be a part of the program this second time, and it simply testaments that our sport has the entertainment and excitement to be included in such prestigious games within the Olympic movement. I would like to thank all those involved for making this significant milestone of our sport in Europe, in particular WAKO President Roy Baker, WAKO Vice President Salim Kayici, and WAKO Board member Tomaz Barada, who worked with me to make sure this became a reality. It is important that our job can result in that the athletes shining internationally and in their home countries. WAKO Europe will come back with specific information about the kickboxing program, its quota and the qualification system in the coming weeks”,
said WAKO Europe President Espen Lund.
After a fantastic success in Kraków-Małopolska 2023, where kickboxing debuted with disciplines full contact, light contact and point fighting, we are very confident Istanbul 2027 will be a memorable and successful event for WAKO Europe.
