After a four-year transition period, which was provided to complete the process without sudden financial expenses for kickboxing participants, the following rules regarding equipment and clothing will be mandatory from 1 January 2026:
EQUIPMENT
- At all local, national, regional, continental and world competitions, equipment must be verified, approved and marked with WAKO Labels.
- No fights are allowed in personal protective equipment that does not have the WAKO label.
- If a competitor enters the fight wearing equipment that does not have the WAKO Label, they will be given 2 minutes to equip themselves with the correct equipment (change of the equipment).
- If they return with the correct equipment within 2 minutes, they will receive an OFFICIAL WARNING before the start of the fight (each subsequent warning will be a MINUS POINT).
- If a competitor does not have equipment marked with the WAKO label and fails to comply with the rules within 2 minutes, they will be DISQUALIFIED (technical disqualification).
CLOTHING
- All competitors in all competitions, at all levels, must use prescribed and approved clothing marked with the WAKO label.
- If a competitor enters the fight in equipment that does not have the WAKO Label before the start of the fight, he will receive an OFFICIAL WARNING (each subsequent warning will be a MINUS POINT).
