DG Culture has opened a new call for integration of refugees in sport. It is a relatively simple proposal with a budget of EURO 60.000 PER SINGLE PROJECT, that will be awarded to 6 APPLICANTS IN 6 MEMBER STATES PARTICULARLY CONCERNED WITH THE MASSIVE ARRIVAL OF REFUGEES.

I strongly encourage our members (especially in South-Central regions) to apply, as promoting refugee women’s participation in sports is a very rare opportunity. We are concerned that most applications submitted to the commission will be delivered to men only. If you team-up with a local private or public sport organisation and are able to recruit 100 women for this activity Additionally, you might consider forwarding this call to an experienced club or organization in your country, with an offer for them to lead it and yourself being a partners / expert.
DETAILS OF THE CALL:
The objective of the call is TO PROMOTE BROADER ACCESS TO THE PRACTICE OF SPORT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES FOR REFUGEES.
The call intends to achieve several results, including:
§ Awareness-raising among refugees about the health and social benefits of practicing sport and physical activity;
§ Better well-being and integration of refugees in society through sport and physical activity;
§ Increased knowledge among refugees of European values through participation in sport and physical activity.
CRITERIA:
* Project should involve at least 100 refugees
* Has to involve Local Sport Organisation(s)
* Has to take into account gender equality
TIMEFRAME:
* Deadline for submission: 9 September 2016
* Notification of applicants: October 2016
* Project implementation: 1 year max or shorter (1.01.2017 – 31.12.2017)
FINANCES:
* Budget: Maximum amount of grant is EURO 60.000
* EC covers 80% of project costs
* A pre-financing payment corresponding to 80% of the grant amount will be transferred to the beneficiary within 30 days either of the date when the last of the two parties signs the agreement.
ELIGIBLE ACTIVITIES:
* development, identification, promotion and sharing of good practices about participation of refugees into HEPA activities;
* · preparation, development and implementation of educational and training modules and tools;
* · activities to increase the competences of multipliers in the field of sport and to develop monitoring and benchmarking of indicators, notably as regards the promotion of ethical behaviours and codes of conduct among sportspeople;
* · awareness-raising activities on the added value of sport and physical activity in relation to the personal, social and professional development of individuals;
* · activities to promote innovative synergies between the field of sport and the fields of health, education, training and youth;
* · dissemination actions
* · conferences, seminars, meetings, events and awareness-raising actions underpinning the aforementioned activities.
