The Turkish Open International Kickboxing Tournament, which was held last weekend in Antalya, Kepez Turgut Ozel Sports Hall, hosted approximately 1,000 athletes and more than 300 officials from Israel, Azerbaijan, Denmark, Croatia, India, Iraq, Iran, Kosovo, Palestine, Macedonia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, South Africa and Turkey.
Over 100 referees were on duty on 8 fighting areas. This tournament drew a lot of attention with all the participation and the great fights that took place. The atmosphere was one of camaraderie and sportsmanship from every country. All participants left home with beautiful memories and great successes! Point Fighting, Team Fights, Grand Champion Open, Kick Light, Light Contact, Full Contact and Low Kick were disciplines on program.
Participating countries gave great reviews and feedback about the tournament that was held for the first time. In the opening ceremony, representatives of the participating countries were given special gifts. The competition ended after the final matches on Sunday.
The Promoter of this great event was Turkish kickboxing federation leaded by President, Mr. Salim Kayici, WAKO Europe Vice President who took chance to thank and congratulate to all participants and to invite them to come again next year. “I would like to thank all of the participants and countries for their participation and I would like to invite them back next year along with those who could not participate. We had a great time in Antalya.”
