End of first finals in European Championship
Todays big contest in matsport was between Robbie McMenamy and Zolt Moradi. Two fighters with incredible merits for the last 10 years. This match above all other was like a chess game two competent and capable athletes constantly meeting each other in finals, Moradi with his incredible flexibility and kicking over, and Mc Menamy with his incredible distance control and counter attack, always one that gets the entire area attention and is always extraordinarily close in the end. Zsolt Moradi ended up as Champion.
In the ring today the big fight was Thea Therese Næss from Norway against 18 years old Tennesse Randall from Great Britain. After a very exposive start with some fantastic head kicks Tennessee was ahead at the end of the 1st round. Thea used all her experience to claw her way back into the fight, remaining calm landing some good right hands bringing the scores very close at the end of the 2nd round. Tennessee again started the final round very strong scoring with the side kicks to the head following up with solid punches, Thea managed to stay in the fight
within 1 point until 30 seconds remaining where she then used all her experience to snatch the victory in the dying seconds by a single point.
Tennessee Randall is a very unassuming young lady who has the skill, talent and work ethic to become one of WAKO full contact´s future stars. She is a huge asset to Team GB where she is very well looked upon by her teammates and coaches. After winning gold at the junior world championships this is her first Adult European championships and earned herself an incredible silver medal.
40 finals is over and we look forward to 17 more WAKO finals tomorrow.
