WAKO Europe President Espen Lund has been elected into the IWGA Executive Committee (IWGA = International World Games Association) for 2026 – 2030.
This is a very much prestigious position, being able to be a part of a ExCo for such a major multiple sport event organization.
Lund got most votes of the board members with 33 out of 39 votes.
The last The World Games in Chengdu, China was a massive success and at an absolute Olympic level.
WAKO is fully recognized by the IWGA and is a full medal sport at the program. IWGA is recognized by the IOC and The World Games consist of sports recognized by the IOC but not yet in the Olympic Program.
Espen Lund states:
“I look forward to contribute to develop the World Games further on. I am ready”.
WAKO President Roy Baker, who represented WAKO in Lausanne during the IWGA General Assembly, was the first one who confirmed this great news and he congratulated Espen Lund for such massive support Espen has received from the assembly members.
He said: “ This is a great moment for Espen and also Kickboxing and WAKO, with Espen being elected as a member of IWGA Executive Board.
He simply deserves this recognition and opportunity.”
The next The World Games will be held in Germany, Karlsruhe, in 2029.
